Garage...

My Garage is usually a reflection on how I'm doing. If it's a mess, I'm a mess. If it's clean and organized, I'm doing well. As the picture shows, I've been a little overwhelmed lately, so I've decided we needed a little work.
This feels much better. Of course I still have way too much stuff. But I have recently found a site to help me with that problem... Freecycle. I will be posting a few things on there today and hopefully I can get down to the bare essentials.

My first car was a VW Scirrocco that I bought from a friend for $350. It had its problems, but that just helped me learn how to work on cars. I loved that car and if someone offered me one today, I would have a hard time turning it down.

My second purchase was a 73 VW Westfalia. I found her at the shop where I was having work done to my scirrocco. The shop owner sold it to me for the price of repairs that someone else had failed to pay. I fell in love with her at first sight and named her "Sandy". I still have her today, a little worse for wear.

Sandy was sometimes unreliable, so I found this little 71 VW SuperBeetle gathering dust in someones back yard. "Forest" served me well for the few years I drove him. I still have him, and am very reluctant to give him up.
My most recent find is "Calven", a 69 VW Corsair. Very similar to a Manx, just another company. What a great buggy! My original plan was to just drive this in the city, but we have had it out to the desert off roading a few times and have had a blast!

"Goldie" was a trooper. She took me all over the place. she was always up for a camping trip or just a jaunt around town. Unfortunately when she did break down, the costs were outragous to fix. I finally had to let her go.

And don't forget about the motorcycles. One for me and one for the wife. They sit most of the year. We're fair weather riders.
